Energy PBL
As nonrenewable energy sources deplete, our costs increase. Businesses and homes are impacted by increasing costs of utilities and the need for conservation and alternative sources is eminent. Our community has 87% percent of students living in poverty, so reducing utility costs would assist families in easing the pressure in providing for their families. A mid-sized school district with 800,000 square feet of space pays more than $1M annually for energy. Space heating, cooling, and lighting together account for nearly 70% of school total energy use. Average household utility bills in Colorado are $81 per month.
How can we decrease the cost and usage of electrical and gas energy in our school and homes?
